Reporting Responsibilities
This position will be based in Westminster, Colorado and report directly to the Director of Technical Services
Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following

Must take a personal and proactive approach to health, safety, and the environment. Must understand and follow all state, federal, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements applicable to the work area and tasks assigned.

Record and report as required, meeting both internal and regulatory requirements.

Working knowledge of permitting, monitoring, and reporting requirements for the following regulatory agencies:
-
State – Department of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, State Engineers Office.

Federal – Office of Surface Mining (SMCRA), Environmental Protection Agency, Army Corps of Engineers (COE), Fish & Wildlife Service, and Department of Homeland Security.

Perform project management duties associated with permitting and construction including sediment control structures. Serve as contract coordinator on consulting and construction contracts to ensure all safety and environmental standards are met.

Coordinate regulatory compliance activities effectively with appropriate mine personnel to ensure that company and regulatory standards are met. This would include responsibilities related to water quality, land quality, air quality, and waste handling.

Work in a physically demanding environment which may include the construction of temporary sediment control structures and field sampling activities.

Perform reclamation bond release activities.

Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A four year Bachelor of Science degree is strongly preferred, and an environmental engineering or related degree is preferred; but demonstrated equivalent experience may be considered.

Knowledge of Federal and State environmental requirements (including OSMRE, DEQ, WGFD, NRC, TRI, CERCLA, RCRA).

Knowledge of Federal and State safety and health requirements (MSHA).

Strong computer skills required in Microsoft Suite.

Excellent communication skills, written, oral, and presentation skills.

Ability to work in a collaborative team environment is essential.

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred qualifications include:
-
Minimum 5 years of prior coal or surface mining related environmental experience preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) Certificate.
-
AutoCad, SurvCADD, SEDCAD experience.
-
Experience in terrain modeling, backfill planning, and stream channel hydraulics.
-
Knowledge of plant ecology, soil science, and issues regarding water quality.
